Four Continental Porcelain and Metal Sconces

first quarter 20th century, with intertwined twisted metal branches set with molded metal leaves, porcelain flowers and leaf-molded candle sockets.
h. 13-3/4", w. 14", d. 12-1/2"

  • Condition: **Five of the porcelain flowers are lacking; a few others have been re-affixed. Flowers exhibit some scattered losses to their stems and tips. On one sconce, the branch is detached at the base near backplate. One backplate has frayed fabric wiring. Candle sleeves are stressed and have a few light shrinkage cracks and nicks, but are intact. All four examples exhibit light accretions, oxidation to metal parts, and some nicks and losses to giltwood candle cups - all of which are to be expected with age and use.
