1930, Providence, Rhode Island, .9584 silver, each with a spiraled, serpentine-lobed, bulbous base with waisted nozzle and wide wavy lobed rim, with hammered finish, the rim with integral chased monogram "HSW".

  • Provenance: Gorham records give extensive information on this set. They were made by craftsmen Wendell George Arnold (1878-1959) and Herbert Arthur Kaye (1911-1995), and completed on October 8, 1930. They were made to accompany a center bowl with brass flower screen, also by W. G. Arnold, completed on December 29, 1929 as a commission for H.W. Sackett. This was almost certainly Col. Henry Woodward Sackett (1953-1929) of Manhattan: a member of the bar for over 50 years, authority on libel laws and legal contributor to the New York Tribune. Sackett died on December 9, 1929 at his Madison Avenue home shortly before these commissions were completed.
