Four-Piece German Silver Tea Set

first quarter 20th century, by Alfred Roesner (1857-1935), Dresden, .800 silver, in the rococo taste, including a coffeepot, h. 11-3/4", dia. 4-3/4", a teapot, h. 7-3/4", dia. 5-3/4", a cream jug, h. 5-3/8", dia. 3-1/4", and a waste bowl, h. 3-1/4", dia. 5", each with a spiral serpentine-fluted pear-shaped body, with acanthus-crested handles and domed feet and lids en suite.

  • Condition: **The insulators of the coffee- and teapot have been replaced with mother-of-pearl discs (one slightly cracked but intact) and show some resultant minor nicks and solder spots around the retaining pins. Faded gilding on the interior of the waste bowl and cream jug, the latter with only traces of the gilding remaining. Otherwise in very good condition with no dents or breaks and only minor scuffs and pinpoint dings consistent with age. Each piece marked (on the underside) "A. Rosen / Dresden" and with the German "crown-moon-800" purity mark.
