French .950 Silver Gilt Ecuelle and Underplate

  • Condition: Overall Condition: Good. Light scuffs and pinpoint dings throughout. Two small dents on the interior rim of the ecuelle, near one handle. The lid has a dent that has been hammered out on the sleeve, about 2" long. Gilding generally good, with some wear on spots of loss on the underplate; gilding probably not original. Marked with: 1) the French first standard "Minerva" mark in use 1838-1972 (on the underside of the ecuelle, one handle, the sleeve of the lid and the underside of the underplate), with corresponding bigorne marks; and 2) the "P Fres." with star and gaiter maker's mark of Page Freres in use 1901-1905 (on the underside of the ecuelle, and underplate and sleeve of the lid).
