French Marble and Bronze Dore et Patine Clock

second quarter 19th century, the verde antique marble clock decorated with a patinated bronze figure of Calliope, muse of epic poetry, leaning on a tablet, and a pair of laurel wreaths, the dial molded with signs of the zodiac outside the chapter ring, signed "Marchand", set with a silk-string suspension movement.
h. 26", w. 20", d. 9-1/4"

  • Condition: **There are old professional repairs to the marble base. An old crack shows near the right rear leg. Old filler to the top right rear corner of the second tier of marble. The clock is tight and stable. Wonderful surface to the bronze elements and fine casting quality. The clock has a silk thread suspension. Pendulum and winding key present. The movement appears intact; however, we are unsure of its running condition.
