French Modern Oak Executive Desk, the shaped top on a pair of asymmetrically modeled pedestals, one with a pair of drawers, the other with a tambour door opening to reveal an interior fitted with open-face drawers, and with a concealed waste bin, h. 29", w. 74", d. 65".
- Condition: In overall very good condition. The assembled desk is sturdy, solid and functional. There is normal minor wear, including some light scuffs, some embedded dirt, and a very shallow splinter loss to a corner edge of the top. A key is present for the circular tambour lockset. The tambours slide freely in a grooved track. The desk appears to be constructed of primarily solid oak. Drawer bottoms with oak veneer. The drawer joinery method is not apparent. Drawer faces are screwed to the drawer boxes, which appear to be butt-jointed with some sort of internal dowel or tenon. One drawer is currently detached from its metal track, causing the front to sag and inhibit the movement of the larger lower drawer. The disassembled desk breaks down into each pedestal, the top, the back for the larger pedestal and the waste bin.
