French Provincial Faux-Bois Buffet a Deux Corps, mid-19th century, the molded cornice above a paneled frieze and two cupboard doors, each inset with a grilled panel, the lower section fitted with two drawers flanking a panel with the incised initials "M.C.", over two paneled cupboard doors, raised on a plinth base, h. 86", w. 54", d. 20-1/2".

  • Condition: The painted faux-bois surface distressed and worn in the appropriate manor for the age. Evidence of repair to the back left and right ends of the cornice. All trim and hardware appear to be present. Varied nicks and surface scratches all consistent with age and use. A thin 3" long vertical burn mark on the bottom of the fluted stile between the doors of the top section, probably from candle use. Back of lower case is replaced.
