French Provincial Fruitwood Armoire, late 18th century, the molded and domed cornice with canted corners, above a conforming case fitted with two long doors, each with two shaped brass escutcheons, over three small drawers and a shaped apron, raised on shaped toes, h. 96", w. 66", d. 26-1/2".

  • Condition: In good "as found" condition, with wear and rubbing to the finish, shrinkage, abrasions and other indications of age and use. The case appears to be tight and solid. The cornice has a triangular loss on the back of one side, approx. 8" by 2" by 6-1/2". There are vertical shrinkage cracks, one with a gap, on the right door panel. There is a shrinkage gap and crack on the upper panel of one side, and a tighter vertical crack on the same side's lower panel. Lock present; no key present. The interior is missing its shelves. The back has about a 2-1/2" diameter hole, presumably for an electrical cord. The outer two drawers do not open and close readily, suggesting work is needed on the runners.
