French Provincial Oak Armoire, mid-19th century, the molded rounded rectangular top above a deeply carved floral basket frieze with two long doors below, each inset with two shaped panels surmounted by floral carving and divided by a small like-carved oval panel, above a shaped frieze, raised on foliate scrolled toes, h. 98", w. 64", d. 25".

  • Condition: In overall good condition. The case is tight and solid with normal minor shrinkage, wear and indications of use. The interior has been fitted with a frame and partition for a television, which is screwed into the armoire from the inside. It doesn't appear that its removal will leave any exterior scars. To accommodate the TV, a hole has been cut in the armoire's back of approximately 25" wide and 21" high. The door lock has been removed and is not present. The doors have been drilled for a knob on each, leaving about a 1/4" diameter hole. The left return exhibits a slight straight-line shrinkage separation in the lower panel along the seam where two boards are laminated together.
