French Restauration .950 Silver Gilt Ecuelle

  • Condition: Overall Condition: Good. No condition issues noted beyond light scuffs, scrapes and dings consistent with age and use. The square locking hole which secures the lid handle is stripped so that the handle spins, but the retaining nut and bolt are fully secure. Excellent engraving on the armorial. Gilding very lightly worn; probably not original. Marked with 1) the Paris "Vieillard" first standard silver mark in use 1819-1838 (on the rim of the ecuelle and the underside of the lid); 2) the Paris large guarantee mark in use 1819-1838 (on the rim of the ecuelle and the sleeve of the lid); 3) the "PMD" with a trowel maker's mark of Pierre-Marie Devilleclerc in use 1812-1824 (on the underside of the ecuelle and lid) and 4) the "Greek Maiden's bust" unofficial mark of the Paris Association of God & Silversmiths (on the underside of the ecuelle and lid).
