George II Giltwood Mirror in the Rococo Taste

18th century, the ogee-carved surround decorated with a pierced crest carved with leaves, framed with scrollwork and flanked with carved flowerheads, the rocaille-carved surround pierced with ovals and framed with scrollwork, the back with the label of Thomas Stanley-Johnson, Swansea, the frame-maker and gilder.

  • Condition: **In very good restored condition. Small, minor pieced-in wood patches to the back side of the frame. Old shrinkage cracks professionally filled. There are some scattered small nicks and dings to the edges. The left top corner leaf tip has been glued back in place. The wavy mirror plate appears original; however, it has been re-silvered. Retains a very pleasing overall patina.
    NOTE: Upon the removal and inspection of the backboards, a business card was discovered from - "ALEC OSSOWSKI, 18th C. Mirrors and Wood Carvings, 83 Pimlico Road, London SWIW 8PH".
