George II Giltwood Mirror, second quarter 18th century, with a pitch pediment top mounted with a crest of crossed eagle's heads, h. 51-1/2", w. 29". Provenance: Waldhorn Company, Inc., New Orleans, Louisiana.

  • Condition: The frame has scattered surface chips and some areas of filler added. There is a large chip to the top corner of the left pediment. The surface is quite dirty, and most likely painted over at one time. There is an open crack to the neck area just below the eagles' heads. The mirror plate is thick and has distress to the silvering. It is old and has been with the mirror for a long time; however, we are uncertain if it is original.
