George II-Style Giltwood Mirror, second quarter 19th century, English, with a molded surround, the scrolled frame decorated with shells and rocaille work on a stippled ground, the scrolled crest with an eagle finial, h. 45-1/2", w. 28-1/2".


  • Condition: There are a few scattered flakes to the gesso and gilding. Some old gold re-paint to the crest area along with other scattered spots. No sign of loss to the carved elements. Light wear to the gilding along the inner liner. The mirror plate with some cloudiness and streaks to the silvering, giving it a very pleasing overall patina.
