George III and Later Sterling Silver Epergne

hallmarked London, 1776-1777, by Emick Romer, the small baskets and one arm Victorian replacements hallmarked London, 1879-1880, by George Fox, the waisted gadrooned standard decorated with laurel swags, raised on four cast rococo-scroll legs joined by laurel swags centering neoclassical medallions and paterae, fitted with four scrolling arms, each terminating in a circular pierced basket, all centering a large navette-shaped pierced basket with laurel swags.

  • Condition: **The large central basket has a small 3/16" crack and repair on the rim, and the central pellet of one paterae is missing, leaving a tiny hole. There is a break (but no loss) to the "ribbon" on the base at the upper left of one side medallion. One of the arms dented upward; two dented slightly downward. The outer edge of two of the feet are dented upward, with some tiny associated cracks. Scattered scuffs and wear commensurate with age and use. Note the Victorian replacement parts stated in the catalogue description. All pieces fully hallmarked.
