George III Banded Oak Lift-Lid Mule Chest

late 18th century, the lift-lid opening to a void interior, the front with two rows of three faux drawers over one row of three working drawers, all with pierced batwing brasses, the corners of the case with turned quarter-columns and raised on ogee bracket feet.

  • Condition: **In very good polished and restored condition. The piece exhibits normal mars, shrinkage and wear, including a water ring on the top, now beneath the newer finish.

    Tight, sturdy and solid with no movement observed in the case's joints.

    The top opens and closes freely. Hinges are replaced, with an attendant splice where an old hinge was and some old screw holes.

    Locks present; no key. The brasses are in the only drillings for pulls in the case. They utilize some period screws and nuts, and some replaced ones.

    One drawer has a loose bottom missing one board.
