George III Ebonized Chest, early 19th century, the rectangular top with a gilt and polychrome scene in the chinoiserie manner, above a conforming case fitted with two short drawers over three graduated long drawers, all decorated en suite, raised on bracket feet, h. 37", w. 41", d. 22-1/2".


  • Condition: The case is tight and solid, and the drawers slide freely. The pieces exhibits normal shrinkage, wear, and indications of age and use including some losses to the ebonizing and polychromy, most notable on the top and perimeter edges. There is scattered inpainting to finish losses. There are some losses to the raised applied chinoiserie decor, generally at edges and corners.
