George III Mahogany and Giltwood Mirror

fourth quarter 18th century, with a scroll-carved Chippendale surround, the crest with an incised gilt shell and vine, the mirror plate with a carved giltwood liner, and giltwood leaf drops on each side, the back with two Sotheby's New York stickers, both numbered "275".

  • Condition: **In very good polished and restored condition, exhibiting some warping of the perimeter elements, shrinkage, rubbing and refreshing to the gilt and evidence of minor past repairs.

    The mirror plate exhibits some minor imperfections in the silvering. It appears to be old but not original.

    There is a veneer loss to the tip of one scroll, about 1/4" x 3/8".
