George III Mahogany Cellarette

fourth quarter 19th century, of ovoid form, the brass-bound top opening to a lined interior, the case brass bound, raised on line-inlaid tapering square legs ending in brass caps and casters.

  • Condition: **In very good polished and restored condition. The piece exhibits normal shrinkage, wear and indications of age and use.

    Tight and solid.

    There is an old dent/blemish in the top, about 1/4" wide and 1-3/4" long. The top exhibits several light surface scratches and scuffs.

    The lid opens freely with some modest play in the hinge. The interior retains a metal lining.

    There are a couple blemishes/shallow dents in the body of the case, as well as a slight shrinkage separation at the top of the base.

    Scuffs, mars and dents to the edges of the legs.
