George III Mahogany Chest-on-Chest

late 18th century, the molded and canted crest above a conforming case fitted with two short drawers over two long drawers, the lower section fitted with two graduated long drawers, raised on ogee-molded bracket feet.

  • Condition: **In good to very good refinished and restored condition.

    The piece exhibits normal mars, abrasions, shrinkage and wear. The case appears to be sturdy and solid with no movement noted in the glue joints of its frame.

    There are professional wood splices at each top front corner. There is a loss to the molding at the top of the lower section. The splinter is at the back of one side, against the wall. It is about 2-1/2" long and about 3/8" deep.

    Drawers slide freely. Locks present; no key. Drawer pulls replaced.
