George III Mahogany Chest

late 18th century, the banded serpentine top centered by an oval patera inlay, above a conforming case fitted with four graduated long drawers, all banded and with inlaid corner accents, raised on shaped bracket feet.
h. 37-1/2", w. 45-3/4", d. 25-1/2"

  • Condition: **In good polished and restored condition.

There are scattered areas of filler and veneer repairs, most notably to perimeter banding stringing around the top .

The drawers do not close fully, but instead project about 1/2" from the front of the case. The issue cannot be remedied by moving their stops.

The lowermost lock appears to be replaced. The brasses appear to be of the period, with some later posts and nuts, and no other pull drillings visible.

    Repairs to legs.
