George III Mahogany Lectern Table, fourth quarter 18th century, the rectangular top with a molded edge and hinged central section, lifting to an easeled back, each side fitted with a swing-out candle stand, of adjustable height, raised on a stop-fluted columnar standard to three cabriole legs headed by foliate shield carving and ending in ball-and-claw feet, h. 29" to 41", w. 25-1/2", d. 19".


  • Condition: In overall good condition, exhibiting normal mars, small dings, wear, shrinkage and indications of age and use. There are vertical veneer tears along one side of the top/rest over movement at an underlying lamination line. The adjustable lectern functions as intended. The brass pedestal track to raise and lower the top height works properly. There is some play in the shaft that emanates from the base. There are some patches/splices to the raised edges at the perimeter of the candle stands. No repairs or breaks visible to the legs. They retain old casters.
