George III Mahogany Linen Press, late 18th century, the molded cornice above two doors, each inset with a flamed panel, the lower section fitted with two short drawers over a single long drawer, raised on shaped bracket feet, h. 70", w. 51-1/2", d. 26".


  • Condition: The case is sturdy and structurally sound. The piece exhibits minor mars, wear, shrinkage and indications of age and use. There are some straight-line shrinkage cracks at joints in the inlay surrounding the oval door panels. At two points, that veneer is slightly loose at a corner. Drawers slide freely. There are losses to the ebonized or ebony banding at the perimeter of the drawers of about 3/4"; 3/4"; 1" and 1/4". There is a veneer loss at the juncture of a front leg and the apron, about 1/4" wide and 1/2" long.
