George III Mahogany Music Stand, early 19th century, the rounded, ratcheted, easel-back stand raised on a turned vasiform standard to three splayed legs ending in ball feet, h. 40-1/2", w. 17-1/2", d. 13-1/2". Provenance: Uptowner Antiques, New Orleans, Louisiana.

  • Condition: Made of maple or fruitwood rather than mahogany and with a handsome amber patina. The top has scattered signs of use commensurate with age. The case/support in the back is a possible replacement. One leg has been re-pinned at the top. All other elements appear original, including the bottom feet. The ratcheted adjustable top is sturdy and functions well.
