George III Mahogany Secretary Bookcase

fourth quarter 18th century, the molded and dentillated broken swan's-neck pediment above two bi-paneled glazed doors, the lower section fitted with a secretary drawer opening to a variety of drawers and cubbyholes and a central cupboard, over two long drawers, raised on bracket feet.

  • Condition: **In good "as found" condition.

    The piece exhibits normal mars, wear, shrinkage and indications of age and use. The sides of the upper section show straight line separations at the seam of two boards.

    The cornice is missing a number of lengths of its applied dental molding, about 3", 8" and 16". Some fragments of that molding are present.

    Key is present for the upper section. Locks but no functional key for the base. One lock in the base is loose.

    One bail/drawer pull is missing.

    The base exhibits side-to-side play at its joints.
