George III Mahogany Secretary Bookcase

second half 18th century, in two parts, the upper section with a molded and dentillated cornice, over a pair of doors with crossbanded and line-strung panels, the base with a slant lid opening to reveal an interior fitted with banded and line-inlaid drawers and a pair of doors with inlaid panels, over a graduated bank of four drawers, flanked by reeded pilasters, on bracket feet.

  • Condition: **In overall very good condition. The surface appears to have been polished in the past. The piece shows normal shrinkage, wear and indications of age and use.

    The veneer in the banding on the doors exhibits extensive break lines, but no losses observed.

    The locks are present throughout. A key is present for the replaced door lock.

    Drawers slide freely. One drawers exhibits a gap/separation/space due to shrinkage.

    The base is tight and does not exhibit movement at the glue joints.
