George III Mahogany Tilt-Top Tea Table, third quarter 19th century, with a dish top, spiral-reeded pedestal and pad feet, h. 27-1/2", dia. 24-1/2". Provenance: Stair & Co., New York.


  • Condition: In overall good condition. The piece exhibits mars, blemishes, shrinkage and wear consistent with age and use. The single-board top has a tight shrinkage crack about 2/3 across its width (visible in the catalogue photo). There are a couple areas of lifted finish on the top. A pair of iron braces have been mortised into the underside of the top. There is a split/separation to one of the battens. It does not extend through the piece, but does need to be clamped and glued to stabilize it.
