George III Mahogany Tripod Table

fourth quarter 18th century, the dished pie-crust-form top with eight carved fan and bellflower projections, and raised on a bulbous columnar standard with foliate carving to three splayed legs ending in ball-and-claw feet.
h. 29-1/2", dia. 31"

  • Condition: **There is a restored break at the ankle of one leg. A faint circular ring to the top where something has sat and the surrounding area is slightly faded. An 8" shrinkage crack in from one edge. A few small filled holes to the top, possibly from the screws to the locking mechanism on the underside. The top appears to be cut from one broad stock and not glued-up boards. Good finish and rich patina.
