George III Red-Lacquered Tall Case Clock

late 18th century, the door decorated with portraits of George III and Queen Charlotte, and the painted case in the chinoiserie manner, set with 18th-century works with a brass dial signed "James Cotton, Tamworth".

  • Condition: **The painted case with craquelure and minor flaking. The glass in the hood door has a crack. Beautifully engraved brass face. Tarnish and wear to the face. The pendulum rod slightly bent and lacking a suspension spring. Two weights present. No winding key. The bell is missing from the top of the movement. The hammer is present. The painted surface may be original with areas of later touch-up.
