George III Sterling Silver Hot Water Jug

  • Condition: Overall Condition: Good. Scattered light scuffs and dings consistent with age. Thinned spot and small crack on the body between the swags directly under the spout where a crest/monogram has been removed. Evidence of a small dent hammered out on the body, just under the central band, near the handle. Small dent to the tip of the lid. The handle is possibly a later (but not recent) replacement. Hallmarked (on the underside of the foot) with 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the London crowned leopard's head; 3) the date letter "c" for 1778-1779; and 4) the "CW" maker's mark of Charles Wright. Marks lightly worn but clear.
