George III Sterling Silver Inkstand

hallmarked London, 1792-1793, by John Touliet, comprising a rectangular tray fitted with three molded receptacles, each with a cylindrical pot (ink, pounce and nibs) with molded band and fitted cap.

  • Condition: **In overall very good condition, with a nice, mellow patina and some minor surface scuffs and bumps. The cap of the inkwell has a small, easily reparable dent on the rim. The stand and each well fully hallmarked on the underside with: 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the London crowned leopard's head; 3) the date leter "r" for 1792-1793; 4) the George III bust duty mark; and 5) the "IT" maker's mark of John Touliet; the underside of the caps part-marked with all but the leopard's head. Marks good to excellent.
