Good George IV Irish Four-Piece Sterling Silver Tea and Coffee Set, hallmarked Dublin, 1821, by Edward Power (free 1816, d. 1846), comprising a coffeepot, h. 9-1/4", l. 11-3/4", a teapot, h. 6", l. 11-3/4", an open sugar bowl, h. 5-1/4", w. 8-1/4", and a cream jug, h. 5", l. 6-3/4", each of flattened spherical form and decorated with elaborate repousse flowers on an imbricate ground, with espagnolette handles, mascaron-crested ball-and-claw feet, eagle's head spouts and foliate finials, engraved with a crest of an arm bendwise holding an oak tree eradicated, 101.31 total t. oz.


  • Condition: Overall Condition: Good. No condition issues noted beyond the scattered light surface scuffs, scrapes and dings consistent with age. No dents, breaks or repairs noted. Good detail to the extravagant, amusing and naive decoration. Minor shrinkage cracks/chips to the insulators. Each piece hallmarked (on the underside) with: 1) the sterling crowned harp; 2) the Dublin seated Hibernia; 3) the date letter "A" for 1821; 4) the George IV bust duty mark; and 5) the "EP" maker's mark of Edward Power.
