German .800 Silver Holy Water Font, first quarter 20th century, Hanau, retailed by Buchholz & Zelt, New York, New York, the rococo-shaped embossed backplate with pierced scroll rim decorated with a central figure of the Virgin and Child surrounded by cherubs in the clouds below a pierced canopy, the font with the Lamb of God, h. 16-1/4", w. 8-7/8", d. 2-3/4", 22.79 t. oz.


  • Condition: In overall good condition. Some of the projecting detail around the edges are slightly bent, but no breaks, tears or repairs noted. Oxidation in the recesses. Some wear to the surface relief, but still richly detailed. Marked (on the reverse) with the German 800 "crown & moon" purity mark and "Buchholz & Zelt / Germany".
