Gilt-Metal, Porcelain and Wood Automaton

ca. 1900, Continental, on a hexagonal ebonized base set with hand-painted porcelain plaques depicting landscapes and nautical scenes, one side set with a clock, with a hand-painted opaline dial, the base supporting a gilt-metal birdcage with three feathered mechanical singing birds on metal and wood perches.

  • Condition: **The second hand of the clock ticks and moves, and the clock appears to be running. All three of the birds' beaks and tails move. Their wings do not move. They chirp as well. No apparent damage.
