Good Cased Set of French Silver Gilt and Mother-of-Pearl Fruit Knives

fourth quarter 19th century, Paris, by "L&P", first standard (.950) silver, including twelve knives in the Empire taste, each with a pointed silver blade and two-color-gilt laurell-banded ferrule and cap, with a carved mother-of-pearl handle of barrel-shaped section; presented in the original cream moire- and green-velvet lined brown leather case with gilt retailer's stamp of Maison Servan, Bordeaux, 1-1/2" x 8-1/4" x 8-3/4".

  • Condition: The knives in very good condition. Three blades very slightly extruded from the handle (no more than 1.5 mm) but all tight, sound and fucntions. No chips, dents, cracks or repairs. Very light wear to the gilding. Case interior with light wear and a tear in the moire across the hinge. Case exterior with scuffs, light stains and three or four small losses. A very handsome set.
