Good Italian Polychrome and Parcel-Gilt Cabinet 18th century, the heavily molded and dentillated cornice above a paneled frieze with applied medallions, above a case fitted with three arched doors, each inset with a pierced iron grille depicting a flowering urn, all flanked and divided by foliate and masque-applied Corinthian pilasters, the lower section fitted with three cupboard doors, all quarter-paneled and centered by a giltwood patera, flanked and divided by giltwood acanthine pilasters, raised on a heavily molded base, h, 85-1/2", w. 89", d. 21".

  • Condition: The piece exhibits normal indications of age and use including wear, inpainting and re-gilding, past repairs, abrasions and shrinkage. Losses to polychromy throughout. The case appears to presently be tight and sound. Back firmly affixed. Several hinges are loose rendering doors that bind somewhat upon opening and closing. There are no glass panels behind the wrought iron door panels. There is a loss to the molding at the top of the base, at the return of one of the slightly projecting pilasters; the loss is about 1/2" by 2". Similar molding is loose on one of the returns. The upper door is missing its lock.
