Gorham Sterling Silver Inkstand and Pen, 1892, Providence, Rhode Island, of cartouche form in the rococo style, with hinged ink and water wells, w. 8", d. 6", together with an associated sterling silver pen, l. 6-1/4" (excluding nib), 7.44 t. oz. (weighable silver). Provenance: Estate of Alice Evans Pratt, Houston, Texas.


  • Condition: In good used condition with the expected surface wear commensurate with age and use. The hinge on one lid has been repaired. One well has a glass liner which has three chips - 1/8", 1/4" and 3/8" - around the rim. The inkstand marked on the underside with the Gorham trademark and date symbol, and "Sterling 245"; the pen marked "Sterling" only.
