Group of Thirty-Eight English Porcelain Plates

second quarter 19th century, in the Imari palette, decorated with cobalt pots of orange peonies, with floral borders and scalloped rims.
dia. 9-1/2"

  • Provenance: The Estate of The Honorable Lloyd & Beryl Ann Bentsen.
  • Condition: **The plates are gently used; condition is commensurate with age, material and utilitarian use. One dinner plate is cracked and a few others have partial hairline cracks to the underside of their wells. One plate has an innate firing fissure to the back of its well. Soup bowls do not exhibit cracks. Plates and bowls have some scattered chips to rims and foot rims, and minor rubbing and wear to wells and pigment. Dinner plates are the same pattern, but not from the same "set", as there are slight variations in depth of well and thickness.
