Group of Three Hand-Colored Engraved Maps of the Mouth of the Mississippi River from Pierre-Francois Xavier Charlevoix's Histoire et Description Generale de la Nouvelle France

by Jacques-Nicolas Bellin (French, 1703-1772), Official Hydrographer to the French King, including two of the same chart showing the course of the River and Fort de la Balise, all three illustrate the course of the River into the Gulf of Mexico, published Paris, ca. 1744.
Two are matted in varying sizes, all three are unframed.
the first two plates 8-1/4" x 11-1/2", sheets 9" to 9-1/4" x 12-1/4" to 12-1/2"; the third plate 9" x 7-1/4", sheet 11-1/2" x 8-3/4"

Provenance: Two of the maps were purchased from Jonathan Potter Ltd., London, October, 1982; Private collection of Hugo Wedemeyer, New Orleans, Louisiana.
