Group of Three Louis-Philippe Mahogany Tub Chairs, second quarter 19th century, comprising a pair, each with a padded back within a frame joined by downswept arms on in-scrolled armrests, on lotus supports to the padded seat, raised on sabre legs headed by ribbing and ending in scrolled toes on casters, h. 35", together with a similar example, h. 37".


  • Condition: In overall good condition. Some looseness and separation at glue joints with visible infill. Surface scratches and minor white scuffs on two chairs. One crest rail with a crack. The odd chair having deeper nicks and abrasions as well as evidence of minor surface moisture in the finish in one area. Some loss of carving at top of chair legs. The later upholstery with some visible wear and soiling. Some time ago, there were screws added to the front blocks on two chairs, possibly to add support.
