  • Condition: Overall Condition: Good. Four-Piece Set: The teapot has some dents on one cartouche, the longest about 1/2", with scattered pinpoint dents around and on the opposing cartouche. There are also two small dimples at the base, just under the handle, with some scattered pinpoints at the upper edge. There is a small chip out of the upper bone insulator. The teapot and cream jug have similar pinpoint dings on the cartouches. Otherwise, no condition issues noted. Good details. Each piece hallmarked (on the underside; the jug on the collar) with: 1) the Dublin "Hibernia"; 2) the sterling "harp"; 3) the date letter "Q" for 1886-1887; 4) the Victoria's bust duty mark, 5) the "JS" maker's mark of John Smyth; and 6) the retailer's stamp "Wallace". Marks very good but for those on the creamer, which are rubbed. Kettle-on-Stand: Generally good condition with some scattered pinpoint dings and scuffs, but no breaks, repairs or losses to the silver plating noted. One hinge pin and the burner cap lacking. The stand has a negligible "wobble". The retaining pins on the handle insulators are extruded but present, suggesting replaced insulators. One wing of the nut holding the finial is broken off and is loose but functional. Marked (on the underside) with the Martin & Hall "MH&Co" trademark surrounded by "EPNS" and model number "1054". Tray: Some surface scratches on the plateau, but otherwise fine. No losses to the silvering. Marked (on the underside) "Triple Deposit / Mappin & Webb / Prince's Plate / London & Sheffield / E / W12324".
