Italian Giltwood Vitrine, 19th century, the masque-carved crest above a pietra dura panel of a bird perched on a rose branch, flanked to either side by small shelves, over a foliate-carved dentillated frieze, the case fitted with two beveled glazed doors opening to a mirrored and shelved interior, joined by a mirrored back and winged maiden supports to a stretcher shelf ending in scrolled toes, h. 87-1/2", w. 40-1/2", d. 17-1/2".

  • Condition: In very good condition. There is slight shrinkage to the very top molding behind the carved lady's head in the crest. There are small chips to the seam where this molding attaches to the back board. A small flake to the lady's hair. The velvet-covered shelf at the bottom and the one at the top of the cabinet are both showing wear to the fabric and fringe. The carving throughout the cabinet is extremely fine and well-detailed. Good surface to the gold. The pietra dura plaque is fine.
