Italian Carved Marble Bust of "The Aphrodite of Melos", ca. 1900, after the 2nd century BCE Hellenistic marble sculpture excavated in 1820 and now conserved at the Musee du Louvre, Paris, on a socle base, h. 22", w. 13-3/4", d. 8-3/4".


  • Condition: In generally good condition. Some small areas of discoloration, including two at the top of head. Scattered small nicks including at proper left arm truncation, right underarm, center of crown. Small crack at center of bust, along with accompanying losses to marble. Areas of abrading and losses where bust meets socle, at back edge, and along edge of crown.
