Italian Neoclassical Fruitwood Commode, early 19th century, the banded rectangular top above a case fitted with three graduated long drawers, flanked to either side by fluted uprights, raised on fluted tapering square feet, h. 36-1/4", w. 47", d. 24-1/2".

  • Condition: In very good polished and restored condition. The top exhibits a straight line shrinkage gap at the area where two boards are joined. One rear corner of the top has a corner that has been shaved at an angle, apparent on close inspection, but since it is a straight-line cut, not readily apparent. The lower drawer exhibits a couple shrinkage cracks in its face, now apparently stable. The center drawer closes tightly. The runners for the drawer are loose, but tennoned in and in no danger of dropping out.
