Italian Polychrome Window Seat, 19th century, in the Directoire taste, the long cushioned seat flanked to either end by an upright with a curved crest over a pierced lyre and urn splat, over a padded panel, raised on tapering circular legs ending in peg feet, h. 46", w. 75", d. 24-1/2".

  • Condition: In overall good condition. The piece has an old, distressed surface that appears to have been over-coated with clear finish. The polychromy may have been refreshed and aged. Tight and functional. If one shakes the ends vigorously, there is a small amount of movement where the ends meet rails. They appear to be more than strong enough for use. The upholstery is generally good, but for some staining to one of the "headboard" panels.
