Japanese Carved Ivory Figure of Fukurokuju, Meiji period (1868-1912), a naturalistically rendered figure of the god of happiness, wealth, longevity, and prosperity holding a peach and a long shaft, the underside with a two-character red and black atelier mark, h. 6-1/2", w. 2-1/2".


  • Condition: One shrinkage crack on the front of the figure's torso and two on the back. A few scattered abrasions to the surface. A small ivory plug in the back of the figure's left shoulder. All wear is consistent with age and display.
