Japanese Cloisonne Vase, Taisho period (1912-1926), the globular-bodied vase with an impressed design of prunus limbs, bamboo and chrysanthemums on a red ground, and vibrantly enameled daisies covering the surface of the vessel, with silvered rims, the underside with an Ando Jubei (1876-1953) mark and three-character inscription of maker, h. 9-3/8", dia. 8-1/2". Examples of Ando Jubei's work can be found in the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore, Maryland.


  • Condition: Some light rubbing to clear surface enamels and slight irregularity along foot rim that is not visible when the vase is displayed upright. Very minor oxidation along the rim and some scuffs on the foot rim from display. No breaks, cracks or evidence of restoration.
