Karel Bartosik (English/Czech, b. 1942) Sterling Silver Miniature Binoculars Case

Notes: Karel Bartosik was born in Tarnworth England in 1942 to a Dutch mother and Czech father, but his family returned to Czechoslovakia after World War II. He was educated in Prague, and later learned gold and silverwork in the town of Jablonec, famous for its "Bohemian garnet" jewelry, where he won a silver award in 1965 for his designs. He returned to England in 1967 and worked with avant garde jeweler Andrew Grima. After winning the "Silver for the 70s" competition with his table tennis award, he opened his own studio in 1973. His meticulously detailed miniatures in silver and gold have been featured in several one-man shows in London (1976), Dusseldorf (1977), Tokyo (1978) and Prague (2007) among others. He is a fellow of the Society of Designer Craftsmen and has works on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

  • Condition: **In overall very good condition with no issues noted. Fully hallmarked on the underside, the lid part-marked. The straps marked "Tiffany & Co." and "750 KTB".
