Kathryn Cherry
(American, 1860-1931)
"Gloucester Harbor"
oil on canvasboard
signed lower right. Presented in a handsome Arts and Crafts-style giltwood frame.
16" x 18-1/2"
-
Condition: **In overall very good condition with no visible losses or repairs. Three of the olive green ripples in the water below the boat in the foreground fluoresce under UV light, which is likely due to the chemical composition of the pigment, since no inpainting was otherwise detected. On the left edge, a 1" vertical sliver on the canvas is retracted from the board edge. Since some of the paint overlaps the board, the flaw is innate to the manufacturing process. Please note that the painting is on canvasboard, not on board as previously stated.
