Notes: William McCracken was among the premier furniture manufacturers and retailers in mid-19th-century New Orleans. Active from about 1832 until his death in 1872, at various times his brother John, and later his younger brother James, joined him in the firm. The firm remained in business for a number of years after his death. A Rococo Revival table with a paper label with the same address is conserved by The Historic New Orleans Collection. That table is believed to have been manufactured by J. & J. W. Meeks, New York.
