Large Pair of Victorian-Style Silverplate Epergnes

mid-20th century, by the Goldfeder Silver Co., Yalesville, Connecticut, each with a canted and concave triangular base raised on three robust acanthus feet, centering a pigeage tub within a scrolling grapevine standard with six branches around a large openwork grapevine banded basket, the branches each terminating in a smaller basket en suite, the base with a putto reaching to pick the grapes.
h. 24-1/4", dia. 20-1/4"

  • Condition: **In overall good condition, with no dents, breaks or repairs noted. On one central basket, there is a large amount of green residue, probably from florist's foam; it does not appear to be copper oxidation. The other central basket and both bottom tubs also have some residue, and there are a few spots on the branches under the central baskets. No bleeding or wear to the base metal noted beyond a few tiny scattered nicks. Note that there are no glass or other liners for the baskets. Each piece marked on the underside with a stylized crown.
